Just one more month until applications are due for this year's Filmmaking Program. Please spread the word and help us make sure this opportunity gets to the talented young people who can benefit from it.
We are trying to make a feature length documentary about the Manifesto Festival. The most exciting public arts event to happen in Toronto in ages! This is the future of festivals in Toronto!
To all the companies that have generously donated production services to our auction, we offer our heartfelt thanks. Without the cooperation of the film community, we wouldn't be able to continue our programs. Thank you!
You may have heard that PEPSI is giving away money to non-profits just like POV. We have submitted a project idea but we will only get the funding if we get enough votes. Yes, its a competition and we need your help to win.
We recently met two terrific youth-led organizations in Toronto: Schools Without Borders and Manifesto Community Projects. We've agreed to work together on a monster sized project - that is, if we're lucky enough to get a Pepsi grant to do it.
Of course, we want to make a movie. But this time, we want to make a feature length documentary, with POV alumni and members from SWB behind the camera(s). Established filmmakers will mentor throughout the process and push participants to make the highest quality product possible. Like our past projects, its all about hands-on learning and professional mentoring.
And what will this feature documentary be about? THIS:
If we get the Pepsi grant,
the documentary will mix
behind-the-scenes footage of organizing the festival, with footage of the festival itself.
Ultimately, this project - just like the festival and the also the documentary - will celebrate youth culture and the a limitless potential young people have when they get creative and collaborate.
