Youth Film and Media Training Network

What We Do

YFMTN offers opportunities to at-risk youth who have a desire to work in the industry, yet who do not have the work experience, financial capability or social connections needed to pursue their career.

Working with existing youth employment agencies, we can reach youth with an interest in film and media that are living in some of Toronto’s priority neighbourhoods, youth who may have talent and drive but do not have an entry point to the industry.

For these youth, we offer three programs: an introductory filmmaking program,a job placement program and an alumni program. Through the filmmaking program, students learn the technical, business and social skills needed to find employment in a variety of departments in film and media. Through our job placement program, students gain valuable hands-on experience and advanced guidance.  In short, our programs prep students to begin their careers successfully.

Who We Are

The Youth Film and Media Training Network (YFMTN) is a registered charity, located in Toronto, dedicated to assisting economically disadvantaged youth gain the skills and experience needed to secure employment in film, television, and commercial production.

Founded by owners of the Radke Film Group, Edie Weiss and Scott Mackenzie, YFMTN is a group effort. We see it as an organization – a network – that brings together all members of the film and media community to do something worthwhile.  It is our hope that the companies and individuals who benefit from Toronto’s film and media industry will come on board and help us build our organization.
